While initial costs of a solar PV, solar hot water (SHW), or wind systems may seem daunting, there are many state, federal and local incentives that can take out the sting. Within the last year, we have seen solar PV panel prices drop, and we pass these savings onto you.
For Pennsylvania residents, there is the Pennsylvania Sunshine rebate program, which rebates qualified PA residents for specified renewable energy sources. The rebate program is tiered, with each tier being funded at a certain level. The current rebate level for Solar PV is $1.75 per watt, with a maximum of 10 kW rebatable. Pennsylvania has not funded residential wind energy systems through this program. For Maryland residents, there are several programs for PV, Wind and Solar Hot Water. Maryland has a great website which is easily browsed for information. You can find it at http://www.energy.state.md.us/ .
Gettysburg Solar, as a PA Qualified Installer, is required to handle the PA Sunshine Program paperwork. Maryland residents do not have a qualified installer requirement, however, Gettysburg Solar will assist interested Maryland residents in the filing of the necessary paperwork.
The Federal government has enacted many programs, the primary incentive is the 30% federal tax credit for residential and business customers, although there are more that may apply to you. Program details can be printed out and given to your banker or accountant should you have questions on the applicability of a program to your situation.
